A totally unique course that not only provides a thorough grounding in conventional nutritional theory but also looks at differing nutritional perspectives of traditional medicine, focusing particularly on nutrition in Chinese medicine. On the Masters Programme you will have the opportunity to follow a line of research to develop a clinical specialism within your practice. |

The first year of this course is made up of three modules: Nutritional Medicine Foundation: This module sets the historical, cultural and political issues surrounding nutritional medicine in context. It reviews the foundations of conventional medicine and explores a holistic perspective on the subject. The module aims to establish the basic skills needed for the practice of successful nutritional therapy. Nutrition in Traditional Medicine: This module explores the ideas behind a range of traditional nutritional approaches with a specific focus on the holistic approach of Chinese nutrition. Nutrition Clinic: Taking common disease categories, this module aims to enable students to build up an understanding of the systematic clinical approach needed for holistic treatment, alongside a critical awareness of the background of research applicable. Taking students’ developing expertise in nutritional medicine, the module uses its application in the clinical environment to explore a variety of approaches to patient-centred treatment. An option second year is available to those who wish to study to Masters level: The Masters Research module aims to service the skills requirements of specialist subject units and to develop theoretical and practical skills in managing research and literature analysis projects, with particular regard to:
